Indian clothing exports have skyrocketed by 42.09 percent in June 2011 from a year ago to US $1.2 billion. The corresponding figure for June 2010 stands at $853 million.
In the first three months of fiscal 2011-12 beginning in April, garment shipments reached US 3.58 billion up a staggering 34.47 percent from the same period in the previous fiscal.
Apparel Exports Promotion Council (AEPC), the apex body for clothing exporters in India expects garment exports to reach $14 billion in the current fiscal.
In the previous fiscal year 2010-11, these exports rose by just 4.4 percent to $11.1 billion year-on-year.
