Union Commerce Minister Mr. Anand Sharma assured Karnataka Sericulture industry in Bangalore last week to re-consider the cut in IMPORT DUTY of SILKYARN from 30% to 5% in last budget.
Duty was reduced to down the rates of silk yarn and to make is stable. With this cut rate of silk yarn gone down from Rs.3300=00 per kg to 2500/2600 per kg at present giving relief to weavers at Varanasi.
Weavers and other stakeholders of silk textiles industry should join hands to face this alarming signal and apposse this move of Commerce ministry which is baseless due to following reasons:
1-Their is gap of 10000mt in production and consumption of silk yarn in India which is fullfilled by import of yarn from CHINA which is need of the silk industry till we increase the production.
2-Indian Silk have no match with Chine silk in quality as such we need quality China silk yarn.
Instead of demanding hike in import duty KARNATAKA sericulture industry should increase their production that too of International grade. |
