Textile mimics sense of touch

Updated: 2011-3-9 Source: Investor.com

Researchers in Japan have coated organic conductive polymers onto nylon to create a textile that can electrically register touch and relay the information to a computer. The researchers created a working keyboard with sections of the fiber marked off for individual keys. They hope to eventually weave smart clothing that could be used in hospitals to monitor patients or help them rehabilitate from injuries. The material also could be used like a touch-screen.
