China Cotton Import Rebounds in August

CTEI: According to latest Customs Data, China imported cotton were 240,000 tons in August, up 119% from the same period of last year, and up 42% (70,000 tons) from one month earlier. The average price exceeded 2000 USD per ton to be 2024 USD per ton,  rising 83 dollar (up 4.3%) than that in July. The US remains the largest cotton exporter to China, accounting for a half of the total import.

From Jan. to Aug. the total import of cotton accumulated to 1.95 million tons, almost doubled from a year ago. The import of 2009/10 cotton season reached 2.505 million tons, up 73% year on year.
