KARACHI (July 02 2010): It is a matter of great concern for the value added textile sector that despite scarcity of cotton in the country still cotton is being exported from Pakistan to our competing countries, even in the month of April and May cotton export continues unabated, lamented M. Jawed Bilwani, Co-ordinator, Value Added Textile Forum.

He further said that due to severe shortage of cotton all over the world, many cotton growing countries refrain from exporting cotton. These countries take immediate steps to put a stop to exports of basic raw materials to protect their domestic and export oriented industries while we do not seem to care. The value added textile sector is still facing non-availability of cotton yarn and most fervently appeals to the government to immediately put a stop to exports of cotton and cotton yarn to save this backbone of the economy - value added textile exports which has promising potential of huge earnings in foreign exchange for the nation.-PR
