 Thousands of powerloom weavers and processors from Burhanpur and Bhiwandi are in a fix over the surge in cotton yarn prices, following the Central Government¡¯s decision of allowing exports of cotton.
However, the government seems to be indifferent towards the sufferings of these weavers, as there has been no improvement in the frequent power cuts or in the inadequate infrastructure. Also the Central Government¡¯s decision of permitting cotton exports has induced the farmers¡¯ and the traders¡¯ tendency of accumulating stocks.
But then, the cotton traders state that the rise in the cotton yarn prices is because the cotton crops reached the markets late and there has been a reduction in the purchase by spinners, this season.
