Eleven important associations, under the value added textile sector from Pakistan, have pleaded the government to take feasible and realistic steps to safeguard the industry, which constitutes the foundation of the country¡¯s economy.

The value added textile sector is the most important foreign exchange earner and it also contributes significantly towards employment generation in the country.

Representatives from the value added textile industry attended a common meeting which was organized at the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) headquarter.

Association leaders have strictly criticized the efforts to pull out the zero rated sales tax facility on shipments in the recent General Sales Tax (GST) in order to damage the economy as well as exports from the country.

They were firm on their decision to adopt practical ways to explain the consequences of the execution of the GST on the country¡¯s exports to the Textile Minister Rana Farooq Saeed Khan, the Commerce Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and the President Asif Ali Zardari.
