The two zones of PRGMEA have already elected Mohammad Jawed Chinoy and Mubashar Naseer Butt as the Zonal Chairmen for south and north zones respectively.

The newly elected Central Chairman of PRGMEA in his address at the Annual General Meeting held on September 30, opposed imposition of RGST and demanded the government not to change the zero rated status of the export industry.

The industry will be forced to close the factories, he added. Zonal Chairman, Jawed Chinoy in his address added that governments¡¯ decision of putting off RGST for one month is well appreciated. The government should delay it¡¯s imposition indefinitely as the industry is not in a position to pay further taxes, he said.

He also demanded that duty-free imports of fabric should be allowed across the board for all exporters other than DTRE Scheme. By taking this step, we assure the government that exports will increase by 30% annually to double within 3 years and thus proceed from taxes will also increase accordingly, he said.

He also suggested formulation of a taskforce for the development of SME sector and solid policy proposals which would include experienced professionals and notable businessmen from the industry.
