More than 15,000 workers have been employed by the textile sector in Swaziland. Their skills need to be enhanced for the betterment of the industry.
This was revealed by Joseph Madonsela 每 the Chairman of the Commerce Industry and Trade Parliament Portfolio Committee. He said that these industries are mostly considered to be focused in engaging low-priced labor, which is not true.
According to him, certain standards have been fixed for the textile sector and it is expected that the textile industry functions according to the set standards.
He also said that, it is very essential to get closer to the people employed in the textile sector in order to understand their work. He assured that, whatever industries have been set up in the country, are for the benefit of the native people.
He further added that, of late, two more textile units have been set up in Matsapha.
