Formerly known as Celanese Pakistan Ltd, this project was set up by Hoechst AG in 1994. Nimir Chemicals Company Ltd (NCCL), now known as KCL, was a 20% shareholder in this company. In 1997, when Hoechst restructured its chemical and pharmaceutical business lines, NCCL increased its shareholding to a majority and the company changed its name to Nimir Chemicals Pakistan Ltd.
