The China Hi-Tech Fair 2009 Focuses on Current Economic Situations

    The CHTF 2009 will be held in the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center
from Nov. 16 to Nov. 21, 2009 with a theme of "Innovation, Entrepreneurship
and Development." Compared with before, the CHTF 2009 will make breakthroughs
in multiple areas and present new highlights; in particular, each exhibition
sector will focus on economic situations and key tasks under the current
financial crisis, which will certainly further enhance the awareness of
independent social innovation and strengthen its role as the platform for
hi-tech achievement transformation.

    Focusing on the current economic situation and key tasks

    The CHTF 2009 coincides with the 60th anniversary of the founding of the
People's Republic of China as well as a year for the whole country to deeply
learn and put into practice a scientific outlook on development, actively cope
with the global financial crisis, speed up the structural adjustment and
transformation of the mode of development, and maintain a smooth and rapid
economic development. The CHTF 2009, elaborately planned closely in line with
the aforementioned objectives, will fully present the guidelines, policies and
measures of each field to strengthen independent innovation and promote the
adjustment and revitalization of key industries, to further boost
determination and confidence of the society in independent innovation and
hi-tech industrialization, and better exert the supportive role of
technological progress in expanding domestic demands and sustaining economic
growth.

    During the exhibition, the NDRC will host a hall themed "strengthening
independent innovation and promoting the revitalization of ten industries."
Focusing on the electronic information, equipment manufacturing, automobile,
shipping, iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, petrochemical, light industry,
textile and logistics industries and so on, it will select key enterprises
representative of these industries to attend the fair. They will present
achievements of the NDRC in collaboration with relevant departments since the
"11th five-year plan." Some of these are results of the implementation of the
independent innovation strategy, the improvement of the enterprise-based
technology innovation system, and the improved capacity for innovation.
Additionally, they will present the results of the promotion of the
industrialization of innovative achievements, the providing of support for the
structural adjustment of key industries, the implementation of a series of
programs to expand domestic demand, maintain smooth and rapid economic
development, and further strengthen industries' capacity for innovation and
competitiveness. At present, over 60 representative enterprises in China have
confirmed their attendance at the fair, including Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo, TCL,
Haier, Hisense, Midea, Gree, Datang, CNPC, SINOPEC, COSCO, CHALCO, CIMC, CSR,
CSSC, SANY, XCMG, FAW, Chery and Geely. Furthermore, an awards ceremony,
commendation meeting and signing ceremony will be held during the exhibition.

    The exhibition sector of the MOC, themed, "green environmental protection
and innovation of the future," will engage in a dialogue on "sustaining growth
and adjusting structure," and base its show on the "transaction of
achievement." The MOC will fully exert its role as a platform for
international technological and economic exchange and cooperation as well as
promote trade development and make efforts to advance the exhibition and trade
of international hi-tech products in key fields such as new energy.

 
    The exhibition hall of the MOC will be divided into the MOC central
exhibition sector, the scientific and technological innovation base and the
enterprise exhibition sector, with about 80 institutions including China
National Aviation Holding Company, CASW and GE attending the fair. In the
meantime, the MOC will also hold an Explanation Meeting on Investment in
America and a Recommendation Meeting on Photovoltaic Industrial Park
Promotion.

    SIPO will take the initiative to organize the first international
innovation conference, and will hold "Innovation & Patents Exhibition" and a
forum themed "Coping with the crisis and making progress through innovation."
The theme of the MOA's exhibition sector will be "Technology, Green, Quality
and Harmony."

    For the purpose of prompting state implementation of an energy-saving and
emission-reduction strategy, CHTF 2009 will also have a New Energy and
Energy-Saving exhibition sector, and organize a display of energy-saving
technologies and products, environment-friendly technologies and new energy
environment-friendly vehicles, in order to promote the construction of a
resource-saving and environment-friendly society. Over 11 domestic and
overseas enterprises will attend the fair, including GT Group, Suntech Power
and Nanda Group.

    CHTF/ELEXCON, one of three specialized shows at CHTF, will actively
respond to the state's requirements concerning the implementation of
energy-saving and emission-reduction strategies and CHTF's requirements
concerning building a green fair. It will highlight the theme of energy-saving
and environmental protection, one of the main themes of CHTF/ELEXCON, which
has shaped design concepts as well as components and process selection in the
electronics manufacturing industry in China, and has brought emerging market
opportunities for many electronics manufacturers. At CHTF 2009, CHTF/ELEXCON
will also focus on presenting energy-saving and emission-reduction
technologies in the new energy environment-friendly automotive electronics
field in addition to new energy-saving technologies and products. The IT of
CHTF and CHTF/Optp-FPD originally existing in CHTF will continue to focus on
hotspots of the industry and people's livelihood and organize new technologies
and products to be shown the fair.

    Emphasis on the exhibition of scientific and technological achievements
made in the past 60 years since the founding of the PRC

    For the purpose of presenting the prominent scientific and technological
achievements made in the past 60 years since the founding of the PRC and
introducing successful experiences in science and technology in the past six
decades, the CHTF 2009 will incorporate hi-tech projects in an Achievement
Exhibition of the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC, focusing on
presenting major Chinese breakthroughs in the information, photoelectronics,
new energy, aerospace and biology industries.

    In this exhibition, the exhibition sector of the MOST will present
representative scientific and technological achievements made in the past 60
years. CAS will highlight the significant role of scientific and technological
innovation in supporting and guiding economic and social development, and in
the drive to maintain smooth economic development and the promotion of
economic restructuring and upgrading. CAS will present recent achievements in
the implementing of the knowledge and innovation project, especially
achievements that could serve China's national development strategy, economic
development, structural optimization and industrial upgrading.

    Promote the development of regional economies with distinctive features

    In order to present scientific and technological achievements of provinces
and cities in China, achievements in establishing the regional innovation
system, and promoting the regional scientific and technological innovation and
coordinated development, the CHTF 2009 will make an overall plan for
exhibition sectors in provinces and cities based on the regional economic
layout in China, and set up exhibition sectors for the Yangtze River Delta
Economic Zone, the Pearl River Delta, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Zone,
the Baohai Bay Rim Economic Zone, the Northeast Economic Zone, the Western
Economic Zone and the Central Economic Zone.

    All provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, including
state-administered cities as well as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, have
confirmed the organization of delegations to attend the fair, and Taiwan will
organize a delegation to attend IT of CHTF.

    Beijing will focus on promoting the "Action Plan for Scientific Beijing"
and presenting hi-tech enterprises and projects. Shanghai will attend with
Yangtze River Delta joint projects and highlight the Yangtze River Delta
region's cooperation results. Guangdong will focus on presenting independent
innovation projects, government-funded R&D projects, well-cultivated export
brand projects and fast-growing projects coming out of the crisis. Guangxi,
aided by the promotion of regional cooperation and the introduction of funds
and talent, will focus on publicizing the Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone and
scientific and technological projects of hundred billion yuan, and also focus
on serving SMEs and technology transfers. In addition, through themed
promotion, project negotiation and exhibition, it will present its scientific
and technological innovation achievements, publicize its investment
environment, and expand scientific and technological exchange and cooperation
channels between Guangxi and other regions in China and abroad. Shanxi will
take full advantage of opportunities brought by new international technologies
exhibited at CHTF to expand its export of hi-tech products, deepen economic
cooperation and exchange between Shanxi and the Pearl River Delta region, seek
methods for accelerating the construction of new energy and industrial bases,
and promote the exchange of technology and information between Shanxi and
other regions in China and abroad.

    At present, the country is focusing on coping with the international
financial crisis and advancing scientific development; therefore, the success
of the CHTF 2009 will have great significance. It will gather and integrate
innovation resources worldwide to the utmost degree, and thus further enhance
the awareness of independent innovation in Chinese society, strengthen
confidence and courage in coping with the financial crisis, promote the
optimization and upgrading of industrial structure, accelerate the
construction of an innovative country, and provide a strong impetus to
maintain smooth and rapid economic development.
